Collaboration with JSW School of Law

Reflecting BARC’s connection with spiritual institutions and community partners.

BARC signed an MoU with JSW School of Law to jointly develop and provide a course on ‘Environmental Ethics and Animal Welfare Law & Policy’. The design of the course started end 2020 and the classes will start in March 2021 for fourth year students. The course will focus on the ethics and values underlying the relationship between humans and the natural environment, including animals, and how this influences animal welfare considerations in society.

From an environmental ethics perspective, the allocation of ‘moral significance’ to animals and other parts of nature by humans is an evolving and expanding movement. Historically, moral significance within the human race evolved from initially ‘only white man’ to now a much broader collection of human identities, including women and people with different appearances.
